Course Overview

Artificial Intelligence is the study and application of systems that can perform tasks normally associated with human intelligence. It provides the foundation for understanding how modern AI tools, models, automation systems and intelligent agents work. In this module, students learn the basic concepts behind AI, its major types, practical applications and the role of data, knowledge and decision-making. The module also explains how AI is being used in business and education, while introducing important concerns such as bias, privacy, transparency and accountability. Students explore intelligent agents and learn how an AI system can observe information, represent knowledge, evaluate options and take actions to solve a problem. The objective is to build conceptual clarity before moving toward Generative AI, automation and AI agents.
